The first edition of 3Tre Orienteering wrapped up this Sunday, three days of racing in the stunning Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, held from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June. Inspired by the historic 3Tre ski race, the event brought international orienteering to Madonna di Campiglio with three very different stages.
Friday opened with the Night Sprint, an evening race through the streets of the town center. In the Men’s Elite category, Swiss athlete Joël Borner (OLV Zug) took the win, ahead of Tommaso Besomi (Asco Lugano) and François Borner (also OLV Zug). In the Women’s Elite category, first place went to Finland’s Elina Räty (Rasti-Nokia), followed by Zora Jelinkova (SK Praga) and Polina Cabis (IOF Young Leaders Academy) respectively.
Saturday brought the Middle Distance at Patascoss: Joël Borner confirmed his dominance by winning the second stage as well, followed by Ioan Iacob (IOF Academy) and Christian Foley (Sigtuna OK). In the women’s race, Elina Räty (Rasti-Nokia) led again, ahead of Amanda Granqvist (OK Ravinen) and Polina Cabis (IOF Young Leaders Academy).
On Sunday, the Long course at Grostè/Chalet Spinale — the toughest of the three — shook up the standings: in the Men’s Elite category, victory went to Tommaso Besomi, ahead of Joël Borner and Christian Foley. In the Women’s Elite category, Polina Cabis took the win, followed by Elina Räty and Lenka Johnova (OK Doksy).
With the three results combined, the overall Elite title went to Joël Borner, who claimed the top spot despite Sunday’s setback thanks to his strong performances on Friday and Saturday, finishing ahead of Tommaso Besomi and Christian Foley. In the Women’s Elite overall standings, Elina Räty took the win, edging out Polina Cabis and Zora Jelinkova.
This first edition confirmed the appeal of the Brenta Dolomites for the orienteering world too, with athletes arriving from all over Europe and beyond. Registration for the 2027 edition is already open!
For many athletes, though, the Trentino season isn’t over yet: the adventure continues with the 5 Days Italy – Val di Sole 2026, marking its eighth edition this year and ready to offer more days of challenge and discovery among the mountains of Trentino.
